Two research studies that I just posted give clues to the herpes simplex virus (HSV) as being a cause of infertility for both men and women. In Women the Herpes virus was leading to increased inflammation in both the cervix and the uterine lining. When these organs are inflamed and agitated, conception and implantation become very difficult. For men the Herpes virus seemed to lead to decreased sperm counts and motility (how strong of a swimmer they are).

For me this information is useful to understand how deep HSV can affect our health. Baby making is such a precious act that should be protected and nourished. Proper education on how this disease can spread and what the long term consequences are for ones health, is very important. It means a lot more than just pain and discomfort and poor self esteem, it also means a reduced ability to reproduce.

From seeing the people with HSV that I have treated with Chinese herbal medicine get better, I feel fairly confident that that this ancient approach works. Many people have reduced frequency of outbreaks, to the point of them not appearing at all. Their quality of life becomes better and they start to realize that there is hope. Besides the draw back that the herbs taste horrible, when HSV sufferers start to feel results they are very happy to stick with the program and resolve their distress.
