Eczema prevention

  • Eczema

Even though Chinese medicine can treat skin disease with good success, preventation is always better than trying to treat the actual disease. Good preventation means living a balanced lifestyle in accordance with the natural laws. Rest/ relaxation, exercise, proper diet, and a postive mind keep us healthy, strong, and disease free. (Please read Spence Pentland's nice article on preventing disease at the acubalance web site.)

A good example of a disease that may be prevented by living the way nature intended is pediatric eczema. Swedish researchers found that babies who were breast fed for at least 4 months had significantly lower rates of eczema. (Visit our research section to see the study).

Breast milk is the single most important food for growing infants and nothing can truly replace it as well. Breast milk not only provides proper nutrition to support the growing infant, the act of breast feeding also helps to soothe emotional upset of the baby. The greatest gift a growing child may ever recieve is those early months being nurtured by a caring mother. Since eczema can be a life long ailment, increasing a childs chances against developing it through natural preventation makes a lot of sense.

I believe the saying is "An ounce of preventation is worth a pound of cure". In this case it might be more appropriate to say, "4 months of nurturing prevention may save 50 or more years of suffering!"
